synopsis
He risked his life for the freedom of his country Syria and operated on wounded rebels - now medical student Bashar al-Tammawi finds refuge in Germany.
Al-Tammawi dreamed of a free, liberal society when he joined the uprising against Bashar al-Assad's regime. Islamists soon took over the leadership of the protest movement and initial hopes dimmed. Tammawi was there when the Arab Spring in Syria lost its compass. Footage from his friend, an embedded cameraman for the anti-Assad brigades, illustrates his harrowing account.
